My background is on the IT vendor’s side of the table, where I worked for almost 11 years before joining Midagon. I initially got to know Midagon through a few of its consultants working for the same customers as me. It was fantastic to see the professional touch and views of Midagon's consultants and how they handled the tasks and responsibilities of the customer's projects. The cooperation with Midagon's consultants was always seamless and fluent.

How did you start working at Midagon?

My background is on the IT vendor’s side of the table, where I worked for almost 11 years before joining Midagon. My earlier career within the IT business consisted of Microsoft AX/ D365 consultant, Project and service management manager and Delivery lead roles. These roles gave me valuable experience in IT implementation projects and operational and service development roles with different customers and industries.

I initially got to know Midagon through a few of its consultants working for the same customers as me. It was fantastic to see the professional touch and views of Midagon's consultants and how they handled the tasks and responsibilities of the customer's projects. The cooperation with Midagon's consultants was always seamless and fluent. The professionalism of Midagon's way of working was always evident.

These experiences raised my interest towards Midagon and - what I felt then was a distant - possibility of someday working for Midagon. As the years went by, an ex-colleague recommended me to Midagon. We had some interviews and discussions, but at the time, I decided to stay in my current position. A year later, things had changed and I contacted Midagon again to continue the discussions. Things advanced rapidly, and before I knew it, I had an offer from Midagon on my table. This time, the decision was easy, and I started as a proud Midagonian in May 2023.

How would you describe working at Midagon?

It has been a very different experience compared to my earlier career. Naturally, I initially felt some uncertainty about what sort of assignment I would receive, with which customer, would I need to work on an assignment where I felt uncomfortable and so on.

Very rapidly, these concerns were wiped away. The discussions with Midagon’s sales were very professional. It was evident from the beginning that Midagon's goal was to find assignments where the consultants could use their skills and feel comfortable doing their jobs. The ultimate goal is to find an assignment where all the relevant parties - the customer, the consultant and Midagon - feel good and confident about going forward.

Due to my relatively short time with Midagon, I have worked on my first and current assignment for just eight months. I work as a Project Manager for a Nordic company establishing a new business area in the Nordic countries. This has been a very good fit to my experience and knowledge and there couldn't have been a better place for me to start my career at Midagon.

What do you like most about your work?

It's all about the team working to achieve the assignment's goals. The team within the customer, but also the team within Midagon. The Midagonian way of working is all about supporting each other, sharing information and knowledge, developing your skills where you see fit and possibilities to develop yourself. Midagon trusts their consultants to be self-guiding, proactive and honest in their assignments.

Midagon's consultants are solid professionals, and it's amazing to be part of a team with such deep expertise and knowledge and an open working atmosphere.

For me, it takes some time to get used to a new way of working as a consultant. You have your current assignment, and it might take a little time to get a new one when it ends. However, Midagon's culture and employee promise are to ensure a healthy work-life balance and ensure enough time and energy for family life.

The trust towards the consultants' capabilities and way of working towards the customer's goals is evident in Midagon. I'm honoured to be part of a Midagon team with so many years of expertise and knowledge from various backgrounds. There is a strong “We can, we will” attitude. Also the culture of “feel free to ask” and come as you are, are things that are valued. You are never ready as a consultant like you are not as a person either.

Tell a little about yourself outside of work; how do you like to spend your time off?

As the father of two teenagers, life can sometimes be quite interesting. Every day brings new things to learn – it’s quite amazing how there are questions from me to my kids related to Finnish grammar and words and their meanings every day! Being a father is a continuous learning trip - as it should be! As mentioned earlier, you are never ready, not even as a parent.

I keep myself up and moving with varying success by cycling and hiking during the summer and downhill skiing in Lapland during the winter. Our family has a summer cottage in Virrat, and keeping it up and running requires a fair amount of time and spirit. But when the day quiets down, it's a great place for chilling and peacefulness.
