Midagon expands public sector advisory expertise by acquiring Nexus Transform through the Melkki acquisition

Midagon and Melkki joined forces in April 2025. As part of Melkki, Midagon has acquired Nexus Transform, enhancing its ability to advise public sector organisations in digital transformation. Mikko Rusama, co-founder of Nexus Transform, has been appointed to lead Midagon Finland’s public sector business development as of 5 May 2025. He will also continue advising private sector clients on their digital transformation efforts.

Mikko is a results-driven leader with over 20 years of experience leading digital transformation across both the public and private sectors. He has held several senior leadership roles—including Chief Digital Officer for the City of Helsinki and Yle.

Recognised as one of Finland’s Top 100 IT Influencers, Mikko played a key role in shaping national technology policy and chaired the innovation company Forum Virium Helsinki. Mikko has MSc in Computer Science and Engineering at the Helsinki University of Technology and MBA at the Henley Business School.

Stronger change capacity and increased productivity for the Finnish public sector

As the public sector must constantly find ways to reliably and efficiently produce crucial services, unbiased, independent advisory is key to succeeding and ensuring development initiatives produce long-term benefits. With Mikko's and Midagon’s expertise, Midagon can effectively support and guide public sector organisations through challenging development initiatives.

Mikko Rusama says: “Public services are at a turning point—driven by structural reforms, fiscal constraints, and AI. There's a pressing need for strategic agility and systemic change. I’m thrilled to help clients meet these challenges and contribute to building a more efficient, citizen-centric public sector.”

“Midagon’s holistic way of looking at transformations and development initiatives has brought significant results to our private sector clients. Realistically examining target-setting, required capabilities, and systematic change management are some of the key factors to success. With Mikko’s expertise combined with our learnings about the private sector’s leading practices, we look forward to creating more value for the public sector”, says Teemu Metsola, Managing Director, Midagon Finland.
