Meet the team: Tommi Linnavuori joins Midagon as Senior Managing Consultant

My professional working life started in the paper and printing industry with a two-year experience in production supervisor roles. After that I gained two years of experience as a customer service engineer in the chemical industry, providing support to paper and pulp mills. During these times, I completed both my Bachelor of Science and Master of Science thesis on different paper mills production units, further enhancing my understanding of the field of pulp, paper, and chemical industries.

Subsequently, I worked for five years in the oil and gas industry, specifically at Shell oil lubricants oil blending plant and the supply chain of lubricants business in Nordics. I served in the roles of production supervisor, material planner and was part of the supply chain planning team where I was responsible for managing raw materials planning and ordering. Later, I had the chance to conduct the role of SAP trainer and super user for Shell Nordics lubricants supply chain for planning and procurement process areas in the Global Shell SAP program. During my production supervisor responsibilities, I also functioned as a plant maintenance shift supervisor, providing valuable insights into managing and maintaining production facilities.

Strong SAP development knowledge combined with project management expertise

I have also gained over twelve years of combined experience in business and SAP consulting at Accenture, as well as SAP project management across various functional areas and for different clients. Prior to joining Midagon, I had the privilege of supporting and co-leading a kick-off and FIT/GAP phase of a major SAP S/4 HANA program rollout for a prominent steel producer in Finland. During my career, I have also gained experience serving the public sector for over 10 years. In addition to my deep industry expertise, I have worked on a range of SAP development projects, including hands-on end-to-end implementation for the first four years. During my SAP consulting career, my focus has been on leading and managing SAP development projects across many functional process areas such as Logistics, Plant Maintenance, and HCM, to mention a few.

My expertise extends beyond SAP development projects and production management responsibilities. As an SAP development project manager, I am adept at using the JIRA agile project management tool and have hands-on experience using the MS Azure DevOps project management tool. I am familiar with waterfall and iterative agile development methodologies. Using the agile iterative method, processes and software would be developed more user-friendly, and the quality of end products would be better.

With my experience in SAP AM & AD Program/Project management, I understand the success factors that are key to ensuring the projects are managed effectively from start to finish. My experience both from production and plant maintenance business supervising roles, but also from SAP development consulting roles means that I understand how these fit together into the broader picture of an organisation's operations and needs.

Throughout my career, I have been able to use my practical experience to manage teams effectively. I understand the importance of communication, collaboration, and team building in ensuring that projects are completed on time and within budget.

Outside of work, I enjoy a range of sports activities. One of my favourite sports is ice hockey, which I play twice weekly. I also enjoy swimming with my family, which is a great way to stay fit and a fun activity to do together. In the winter months, I love skiing down the slopes in the Alps and the beautiful scenery surrounding me. I also enjoy playing badminton with my family, which is a terrific way to spend quality time together while getting exercise.

I look forward to meeting more colleagues and people from the new clients soon!
