Merger of Veikkaus, RAY and Fintoto

ICT integration of of ERP and other internal systems, gambling systems, infrastructure and ICT governance models

The challenge

The Finnish Financial Ministry Committee approved the merger of the Finnish gambling corporations Veikkaus, RAY and Fintoto in September 2015. The merger of the three corporations went into effect on January 1st, 2017. The new corporation, with over 3 billion euros in annual turnover, was named Veikkaus. ICT was one of the key areas considered during the merger. The ICT transformation consisted of ERP and other internal systems, gambling systems, infrastructure and ICT governance models.

Midagon’s role

The CIO of Veikkaus, Timo Kiiskinen was responsible for the ICT integration. Midagon’s Ilkka Töyrylä worked closely with Timo during the transformation. During the implementation phase of the integration, Ilkka was responsible for the ICT integration program of the merger. Ilkka’s key responsibility was to ensure that individual integration projects were progressing according to the ICT integration plan and that the projects delivered expected results in a timely manner. Ilkka was also responsible for project dependencies. The program cutover was executed without incidents. The Midagon M&A integration methodology was applied in the Veikkaus ICT integration program.

Program success and delivered benefits

Ilkka Töyrylä’s vast experience and strong transformation management background provided a strong base for the successful delivery of a very demanding ICT integration program. All of the key targets of the program were achieved as planned.
