Patrik Ekström joins Midagon as Senior Executive Advisor

Midagon is pleased to announce that Patrik Ekström has joined the company as a Senior Executive Advisor, effective mid-February. Patrik brings more than three decades of deep expertise from leading global organisations through digital transformation, technology strategy development, and complex change initiatives.

5.3.2026

With a career spanning senior leadership roles, Patrik has built a strong reputation as a trusted advisor to executive teams and boards. Most recently, he served as Head of Nordic Advisory Services at NTT Data. Before that, he spent five years as Executive Partner, Research & Advisory, at Gartner, advising CEOs, CIOs, CDOs, and other C-suite leaders on digital strategy and operating models, value realisation, leadership, and technology investment decisions.

Earlier in his career, Patrik held the position of SVP/CIO of Global IT at Outokumpu, where he led major IT transformations, including the integration of ThyssenKrupp’s Inoxum business, large-scale service industrialisation, and a global ERP Greenfield program. He also spent two decades at Accenture, where he, as a Partner, led several international initiatives.

At Midagon, Patrik will leverage this extensive experience to help clients across the Nordics connect business and technology strategies, strengthen enterprise-level capabilities enabled by modern technologies, and drive impactful transformation programs. His passion lies in elevating the strategic role of information and technology within organisations and in improving collaboration between business and technology leadership to drive measurable outcomes.

“We are glad to welcome Patrik to the team. He brings a wealth of experience and insight in technology-driven business transformation, and his background in both hands‑on transformation and high‑level advisory brings valuable depth to Midagon’s Nordic clients across industries,” said Ilkka Töyrylä, Group CEO at Midagon.

Patrik emphasises the need for organisations to rethink how they view and lead Information and Technology initiatives. In addition to managing the increasing IT costs and cyber risks, enterprise leaders should see technology as the key enabler for strategic business capability developments and, therefore, transform the way business capability initiatives are led in the organisation.

“Current and future technology is the dominant contributor to any strategy-driven business development. For enterprises to reach their strategic goals, the IT function cannot operate in isolation—initiatives must increasingly be led or co-led by business leaders, in close cooperation with IT leaders. For example, if growth is the goal and the sales capability needs improvement, the head of sales should be the key stakeholder and owner of the outcomes, but typically we see a CRM implementation program led by IT evolving,” said Patrik Ekström.

Warmly welcome, Patrik!
