
The purpose of the Closing Phase is to close the project when the targeted change has been realized. All closing tasks and deliverables have been done as planned and the responsibilities and knowledge have been transferred to support the Business Owner’s organization.
During the closing phase, key project documents are updated for the last time as the project ends. The final report is put together utilizing the input gathered throughout the project. Only the business case continues to be updated after this phase.
The outcome of the closing phase is full and permanent change in organisation’s behavior. The project and all the responsibilities of the project team end as the closing milestone is met. But before that, it is important to celebrate the success. This is Milestones M6: Project closed.
Steering group / business owner
Documents created in earlier phases are updated as defined in the document list, but no new steering group / business owner documents are created.
